Sopore: Two militants were killed in a gunfight at Pazalpora area of Sopore in north  Kashmir’s Baramulla district on Friday morning.

Meanwhile, an army soldier Brijesh Kumar who was injured earlier in the initial gunfire succumbed in military hospital here at 92 base Badamibagh, Srinagar.

Reports said that the two militant were killed in the encounter which broke out in wee hours today after army’s 22 RR, SOG and CRPF 92 bn launched a cordon-and-search operation  in Pazalpora area of Sopore.

An army officer also confirmed the killing of two militants and the soldier in the gunfight.

SSP Sopore Javid Iqbal said that the exchange of firing stopped and the searches has been launched to recover the bodies.

SSP said that the operation was launched following the specific inputs about the presence of some militants in the area.

The identity of the slain militants is yet to be ascertained, sources said.

When reports last came in the searches at encounter site was going on.

Meanwhile, in wake of the killing of the killing of the two militants, authorities have closed all colleges and higher secondary schools in Baramulla and Sopore while all educational institutions in Rafiabad to remain closed today. (GNS)
