Pulwama, Oct 25: Scores of National Health Mission (NHM) employees assembled at District Hospital Pulwama and held a sit-in protest to press for their demands on Thursday here.

Witnesses said the employees were demanding regularization of their services, implementation of Supreme Court guidelines on equal pay for equal work and accord of pending commitments made to the employees by Government of J&K in January 2018.

Altaf Ahmad vice president of the association said, “Most of the commitments made by the minister of Health and education on 22 January, 2018 continue to remain unfulfilled which is compelling us to hold protests.”

The NHM employees urged the authorities to initiate steps to redress their grievances with regard to job security, financial security and social security. “We urge upon the government to meet our demands within shortest possible time or face a state-wide agitation in coming weeks.”

The strike call was given by All India NHM Karamchari Manch and endorsed by All J&K NHM Employees Association.
