Workshop on ‘Seed Diversity’ held at Dachigam

SRINAGAR, OCTOBER 24: ‘Seed Diversity’ Awareness Workshop was held at Nature Interpretation Centre (NIC), Dachigam.

During the workshop, lectures on Seed and Fruit diversity, role of butterflies and pollination management, Improved Seed production, Seed certification and Timber management issues were discussed threadbare.

A small exhibition of Chinar Bonsai, fruits, seeds of different forest and medicinal plants species, foliages were displayed. A woodland walk and talk program on tree and shrub diversity of Dachigam National Park was also organised which was coordinated by Director SFRI, O.P. Sharma.

Principal Chief Conservator of Forests, (PCCF), J&K Suresh Chugh was the Chief Guest of the event which was organised by State Forest Research Institute (SFRI) in collaboration with Forest Department, SKUAST Kashmir University. A ceremonial plantation of living fossil tree was also done on the occasion.

The event saw large participation of several Senior forest officers including Additional PCCFs, Chief Conservator of Forests (CCF) Kashmir Farooq Gillani, Conservator of Forests Srinagar Circle, Irfan Ali Shah, DFOs, Wildlife Wardens and Range officers of SFRI, Environmentalists, Civil society members, Scientists and Research scholars from SKUAST-K and Kashmir University.
