Secretary YSS appreciates participation of girls in championship

SRINAGAR, OCTOBER 17: The 30th J&K State Junior Volleyball Championship for Boys and Girls organized by Volleyball Association of J&K under the aegis of J&K State Sports Council concluded at Polo Ground, Srinagar today.

Secretary, Youth Service & Sports (YSS), Sarmad Hafeez distributed medals among the winners. On the occasion, he said the aim of the championship was to provide forum to talented sports persons. “There is need to nurture and harness talent so that the budding sportspersons bring laurels for the state and the country in future competitions,” he said.

Secretary YSS appreciated the participation of girls in the championship and assured them of all possible support.

Sixty matches were played under league cum knock out basis during the championships and about 400 players and officials participated in the 3-day championship.

As many as 17 teams in the boys’ section and 14 teams in Girls section drawn from various districts of J&K State participated and displayed their latest techniques/skills.

Organizing Secretary said the winning teams shall participate in the forthcoming National Volleyball Championship which is scheduled to be held in Telangana State in near future.
