Farmers Training Camps to modernize Horticulture Sector in Kargil: Feroz Khan

KARGIL, OCTOBER 23: Chairman and Chief Executive Councillor (CEC), Ladakh Autonomous Hill Development Council (LAHDC), Kargil, Feroz Ahmad Khan underscored the need for organising of more farmers training camps in district Kargil especially in far-flung areas. He said that holding of such training programmes will help to farmers about the latest technologies besides technical know how about modern farming.

The CEC was addressing the farmers during a Farmer Training Camp held at Minjee Ground in district Kargil today. The Camp was organised by the Horticulture Department, Kargil.

Executive Councillor, Horticulture, Social Welfare and Handloom, Syed Mujtaba, Councillors of LAHDC of respective areas and a large number of farmers attended the Camp.

During the training, the Experts of SKUAST and KVK delivered lectures on different topic related to farming.

Chief Horticulture Officer, Kargil also addressed the gathering and highlighted the activities of the Department.

The CEC asked the farmers to keep a close liaison with the officers of Horticulture Department and its field functionaries. He also asked them to come forward and take advantage of different welfare schemes being launched in the district for upliftment of the weaker sections of the society.

Later, the CEC visited the Solar Apricot Dryer, Minjee Ground and appreciated the use of new technology. He was informed that around 600 such units shall be available to the fruit growers on 90 percent subsidised cost.
