Army hands over bodies of militants killed in Uri to police
Srinagar, Oct 20: Army on Friday handed over bodies of three out of four militants killed in forests of Boniyar Uri in north Kashmir’s Baramulla district on Thursday.
A senior army officer said that the bodies were handed over to the concerned police station for further legal action.
“The fourth body is lying in the area and despite inclement weather and rough terrain, we are trying to retrieve it from the area which lies very close to the LoC,” he said, adding, “we have been able to retrieve all four weapons carried by the infiltrating militants.”
Meanwhile, police have filed a case (FIR no. 52/2018) under section 307, 7/25 and 2/3 IMCO Act in police station Boniyar and further investigations were taken up.
Concerned SHO confirmed that police has received the bodies following which the FIR was registered.
“The bodies after conducting medico-legal formalities will be handed over to local Auqaf for last rites,” the officer said. (GNS)
