JKSDM organizes International Industry Collaboration program

International experts interact with government officials, stakeholders, training providers

SRINAGAR, OCTOBER 18: In order to understand the challenges and opportunities in skill development, employment generation, entrepreneurship development and to strengthen skill-entrepreneurship eco-system in the State, an International Industry Collaboration program commenced today at Srinagar.

This three-day consultative program is being organised by J&K Skill Development Mission in collaboration with BRIDGE Institute. During the program seven international industry experts will hold consultative sessions and interact with government officials of various skill implementing departments and other skill and entrepreneurship development stakeholders.

The experts include Chairman Hong Kong Management Association, Anthony Rushton, Head of Worldwide Development at Pfizer (USA), Dr Declan Doogan, Communication & Engagement Specialist (United Kingdom), Nicola Gilchrist, Co-Founder Climate Group (USA), Jim Walker, Global Capability Director, BRIDGE (United Kingdom), Jane Sassiene, Leader for Social Innovation for Ashoka (India) Shashi Kumar Velath and Director BRIDGE, Asia Pacific, Singapore Simon Mckenzie.

“As part of J&K Skill Development Mission’s efforts to build capacities of entrepreneurs, connect training providers with corporate houses for placement of trainees, fostering linkages and strengthening coordination between skill and entrepreneurship development agencies/departments, we are organizing this consultative program with various skill and entrepreneurship stakeholders”, said JKSDM official adding that these consultations are aimed to chalk out strategy in developing skill and entrepreneurship programmes and fostering linkages with external corporate houses.

This program involves meetings and consultations with around 12 government officials, 35 entrepreneurs, 12 local industrialists/trade union leaders, PMKVY skill training providers and other local experts.

“In this program, we are bringing together international business experts with the skill and entrepreneurship development experts of J&K to identify new ideas that will help in job creation in the region”, said Simon McKenzie, Director, BRIDGE Institute.

“It was an enriching experience to interact with foreign delegates and this exchange and sharing of ideas will help us in devising effective strategies to enrich the skill development system in the state”, said Farooq Ahmad Khan, Joint Director, Technical Education Department, J&K.

“Holding such consultations is important and will contribute in developing skill development programs which will cater to the needs of the region”, said Faiz Bakhshi, a renowned industrialist.

In order to promote skill and entrepreneurship development in the State, JKSDM has been organizing various youth development programs in collaboration with various skilling, upskilling and meta-skilling programs in collaboration with national and multinational organizations.
