DDC Kulgam reviews implementation of sports for peace, development

KULGAM, OCTOBER, 18: District Development Commissioner, Dr Shamim Ahmad Wani today convened a meeting to review the implementation of Sports for peace and development in all six zones of district.

The meeting was attended by ACR, CPO, DSP headquarters, DYSSO, and other officials of DYSS Kulgam.

During the meeting, the DDC was informed that sports activities are continuing in full swing in all 6 zones of the district.

He was briefed by the DYSSO that a cricket tournament under sports for peace and development concluded with high participation of youths. He said that 130 teams participated in the said tournament.

DYSSO also informed the DDC that youth of the district are actively participating in volley ball and football tournaments and 48 teams are presently engaged in the said games.

DDC directed the concerned to develop Ashmuji, Bugam, Chawalgam and Kulgam stadiums on modern lines. He also directed to start work on basket ball court at GHSS boys Kulgam. DDC also directed to construct badminton courts in all four constituencies of the District.

While highlighting the importance of sports, DDC said that  Kulgam has abundance of talent and the need of the hour is to channelize it in a positive direction. He impressed upon the officers to encourage the youth to participate in sports activities for their all round development and to earn laurels for themselves and the district.
