35 votes polled till 12 pm in Budgam’s lone ward

Budgam: A total of 35 votes were polled here in central Kashmir’s Budgam district where polling is underway in a lone ward among 72 wards, sources in the polling station said.
The voting for ward 5- Bazar Mohallah began from 7 am and in first five hours of polling, 35 votes were casted, taking percentage to more than 5.45 percent.
Bazar Mohalla falls in Budgam municipal committee and has 642 eligible voters including 329 females.
The voting is underway at Government Girls Higher Secondary School Budgam.
Sources said that 18 males casted their ballots here while 17 voters were females.
The contest in Budgam is between Congress and Bharatiya Janata Party candidates.
It is pertinent to mention that Budgam district has 72 wards and is divided into six municipalities. In 71 wards, there are no elections as candidates either won unopposed or wards did not find any candidate.
