Inhabitants of Wadoora Sopore stage protest against drinking water shortage

Sopore: The inhabitants of Wadoora area in the outskirts of Sopore town on Friday staged strong protest demonstration against Public Health Engineering Department alleging acute scarcity of drinking water.

Protesters blocked Kupwara-Sopore National Highway at Wadoora and shouted slogans against PHE department for failing to regulate water supply since past one week.

“We are facing water shortage from last week and nobody bothers to look into the crises. We women are forced to take to streets as there is no water to drink, cook and wash,” said Naseema Begum.

Executive Engineer PHE division Sopore said that there is shortage of water as people are using portable water in kitchen gardens.

Meanwhile concerned officials in PHE division Sopore that due to dry spell, parts of Sopore faced tough time, but our team is working hard round the clock to provide water supply to those affected areas.
