ICDS organizes awareness camp on “POSHAN Abhiyan” at Baramulla

BARAMULLA, SEPTEMBER 29: To aware people especially supervisors, Anganwari workers and helpers about the requirement of proper nutrition for better child health, Integrated Child Development Services (ICDS) organized one day awareness programme on ‘National Nutrition Mission’ at  Narvaw Baramulla.

The awareness programme also known as POSHAN Abhiyan was organized by ICDS project Narvaw in collaboration with health department under the supervision of CDPO Narvaw Zia Bhat.

The Poshan Abhiyan or the National Nutrition Mission is PM Narendra Modi’s overreach initiative for holistic nourishment. The first of its kind initiative has been launched to tackle malnutrition through multi-model interventions. The broad contour of the scheme is the convergence of technical expertise to reduce malnutrition, stunting, anemia and low birth weight of babies.

While addressing the gathering, CDPO said that proper nutrition is vital at every stage of life, especially for children to stimulate their mental and physical growth.

He said that the aim is to educate people especially the health workers about the significance of proper nutrition for pregnant women, regular ante-natal check-ups, institutional delivery and immunization for infants.

He also said that National Nutrition Mission or POSHAN Abhiyan is being celebrated across the country for the awareness of the women about their health and nutritional requirements in different phases of life and motivate them to take this message forward in their respective fields.

BMO Rohama, BMO Uri, others concerned besides large gathering of people were present on the occasion.
