Srinagar: A policeman was killed after suspected militants attacked police station Shopian in South Kashmir early Sunday morning.
Reports said that some militants opened indiscriminate fire on Police station Shopian today morning resulting in injuries to a cop.
A police officer when contacted said that militants hurled a grenade followed by firing on the police station. The officer said that one cop, manning the gate sustained serious injuries in the incident and was taken to nearby hospital where he succumbed. The officer identified slain cop as Sakiq Mohi Din of Zawoora.
As per reports the militants managed to escape and also decamped with the service of the slain cop. (GNS)
