 Malik arrested to foil attempts of protests against Qamarwari youth’s killing

Srinagar,Sep 28 : A complete shut down called by the Joint Resistance Leaderhip (JRL) comprising Syed Ali Shah Geelani Mirwaiz  Umar Farooq  and Mohammad Yaseen Malik  against the killing of a civilian during Cordon and Search Operarion (CASO) in Qamarwari in uptown Srinagar Thursday this week hit normal life across Kashmir today.

All shops, commercial establishments and schools are closed in capital city Srinagar while public transport is off the roads. However, private vehicles are plying on the roads.

Reports of shutdown have also been received from other district headquarters of the valley.

Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Front (JKLF) Chief Yasin Malik has been arrested to prevent him from leading any protests against the killing of the civilian. A JKLF spokesman said that Malik was arrested from his Maisuma residence and lodged at Kothibagh police station. (KNS)
