Electoral awareness under SVEEP held in Budgam

BUDGAM, SEPTEMBER 26: A day-long voter awareness programme under Systematic Voters Education and Electoral Participation (SVEEP) was held here today.

Deputy Commissioner Budgam, Dr Syed Sehrish Asgar presided over the function as the chief guest.

On the occasion, the DC deliberated on the importance of the awareness generation about the electoral process and voting rights of every eligible citizen.

Emphasizing on the maximum participation of voters in the upcoming Urban Local Body and Panchayat polls, the DC said that these elected bodies are must for the development of both urban and rural areas of the district.

She said people in the democratic set up must ensure maximum participation in the election process for the development of their areas.

The DC further appreciated the organizers and urged them to organize similar programmes in other parts of the district to ensure maximum awareness generation about the electoral process.

Among others, the programme was attended by DEPO Farooq Ahmad Raina as Nodal Officer for SVEEP, faculty from GDC Budgam, BHSS, GHSS Budgam and scores of students, Asha and Anganwadi workers.
