“Some products were found carrying stickers with inflated MRP. An ordinary mug was found carrying a price sticker of Rs 440. Three shopping malls were booked on spot. On most of the crockery products, the manufacturers/importers have not printed all the mandatory declarations on the label,” a statement of the LMD said.

The legal action shall be initiated against such companies/importers under Legal Metrology laws, the statement added.

Every pre-packed crockery item is supposed to carry the declaration of country of origin with MRP/Net contents/Manufacturing date/Customer care number with e-mail address.

The traders dealing in such products are directed not to offer for sale any crockery item which is without the aforesaid mandatory declarations, the LMD said.
