Srinagar, Sep 24: Jammu and Kashmir Chief Electoral Officer Shaleen Kabra issued notification Monday for conduct of fourth and final phase of the upcoming municipal polls in the state.

The notification has been issued for various wards of the municipal bodies across the state which are slated to go to the polls in the fourth phase on October 16, an official spokesperson said.

According to the notification, the last date for filing nominations is October 01, while the scrutiny of nominations is October 03, he said.

He said the last date for withdrawal of candidature is October 05 and counting of votes will be done on October 20.

Meanwhile the government on Monday also cancelled the leaves of its employees except those sanctioned on medical grounds or study purposes to “ensure smooth conduct of upcoming municipal and panchayat polls”.

An order issued by the Commissioner Secretary to Government, General Administration Department on Monday read: “Leaves of any kind sanctioned to government employees except leaves sanctioned on medical grounds or for study purposes shall stand cancelled forthwith. The concerned employees shall report to their respective places of posting immediately.”

“No leave of any kind shall be granted to a government employee except in case of medical emergency till the conclusion of elections.”

The government has also directed all employees to remain available at their respective headquarters and places of postings till the conclusion of elections.
