  Inter-district Cricket tournament commences in Anantnag

ANANTNAG, SEPTEMBER 24:  District Development Commissioner Anantnag Mohammad Younis Malik along with Director General Youth Services & Sports Dr Saleem-ul-Rehman inaugurated divisional level inter-district Cricket tournament here today at Government Higher Secondary School Bijbehara.

Among others present on the occasion include, Joint Director Youth Services & Sports, District Youth Services & Sports officer Anantnag, Principal Government Higher Secondary School Bijbehara.

Nine teams from different districts of the valley are participating in the said tournament starting. The inaugural match was played between Anantnag and Kupwara cricket teams at cricket ground Government Higher Secondary School Bijbehara.

On the occasion, the DDC Anantnag said that the youth including both boys and girls have tremendous sports talent and there is a dire need to harness it.

He said that 300 youth from different parts of the district have volunteered themselves as sports volunteers for the uplift of the sports activities in the district and all the possible facilities will be provided to them.  He also said the high-class sports infrastructure will be developed in the district and Sports Stadium at Mehandi Kadal Anantnag will be provided with day-night facilities so that sports activities will get a boost in the district.

On the occasion, Director General Youth Services & Sports said that sports and games play a vital role in the overall development of students. He further said that youth Hostels will be constructed in all the districts in near future for the development of the sports culture in the state.
