Ahmed, a student of BBA 1st semester, had recently taken up admission in the college.

The student said that Ahmed has suffered multiple injuries in his chest, head and arms. He was shifted to Saraswat hospital for treatment.

As the news of attack on Ahmed spread, hundreds of Kashmiri students staged a protest demonstration on campus to demand arrest of the culprit.

The students later blocked Chandigarh-Ludhiana highway in Mohali to demand action against the assailant.

Registrar, Adesh Institute of Technology and Management, M B Singh said the college has started a probe and police has also registered FIR into the incident, reported news agency GNS.

“A departmental inquiry has also been initiated and a HOD has been appointed as inquiry officer. He has been asked to investigate the case and furnish the report to chairman within 3 days,” Singh said.

The student has been undergoing treatment at Sarsvati hospital, MRI has been conducted and the report is alright, he said.

Incharge Officer Police Station Sadder Kharar, Assistant Sub Inspector (ASI) Bal Raj told GNS that “the student Masroor was assaulted by some unknown persons last night and has been hospitalized.”

The officer said that the condition of the student is stated to be stable.

“A case under FIR number 140/2018 under section 323, 324 IPC has been registered in police station Sadder Kharar in Mohali and further investigations were taken up,” the officer said.

“We are utilizing our all resources to identify the persons responsible for assaulting the student,” he said adding that strict action will be taken against the assailants.
