8 years on, Chakura-Malangpora road in Pulwama awaits blacktopping

Pulwama, Sep 20: A 12 km road from Chakura to Malangpora in South Kashmir’s Pulwama district is without blacktopping for nearly a decade now.

Commuters here complained of facing inconvenience while travelling to other parts of the district. They said that the road has developed potholes which make it difficult to drive smoothly on it.

Residents of Tokuna,Reshipora, Beighpora, Batpora, Khandypora, Renzipora, Nowgam, Jangalnad, Panzgam and other adjoining villagers told Kashmir Images that it is the negligence on the part of Road and Buildings (R&B) department, pulwama that this road lacks blacktopping from last eight years.

“We have approached the concerned authorities several times requesting them to initiate repairing of the road but to no avail,” said Taqleed Ahmad, a resident of Kandypora village.

Speaking to Kashmir Images, executive engineer Roads and Building department, division Pulwama, Sajad Naqeeb said,” The blacktopping of the road will be done in the next working plan.”
