KCC sports defeats Rainbow Spartans by 20 runs

Anantnag, September 18: In the ongoing Mirza Galib T20 Cricket Tournament at GDC (Boys) Anantnag, KCC Sports faced Rainbow Spartans and defeated them by 20 runs in the final over of the game.

Batting first, KCC Sports set a target of 118 runs for the opponents in allotted 20 overs.

Aashiq Ahmad, opening batsman of KCC Sports, played a brilliant innings of 30 runs which proved to be a good start for his team and played a pivotal role for KCC sports in setting the target of 118 runs.

Middle order batsman of KCC Sports Jeelani and Showkat scored 20 and 13 runs respectively, while as other batsmen could not perform well with the bat.

While chasing the target of 118 runs, Rainbow Spartans could not withstand the brilliant bowling performance of KCC Sports as they were bundled out for 98 runs.

However, the batting of Rainbow Spartans was worth watching especially in slog overs in which they took the match to the last over of game and at one time it seemed that they can achieve the set target. But the bowlers of KCC didn’t let the opponents to equalize the run rate.

Mohammad Irfan with 24 runs and Seerat with 18 runs were top scorers for their team, while as rest of the batsmen could not enter their double figures.

Raees Ahmad was awarded Man of the match for scoring 10 runs and taking 2 wickets in the game.
