Shutdown in Anantnag, Kulgam against civilian, militant killings
Srinagar, Sep 16: Shutdown was observed in Kulgam and Anantnag districts of south Kashmir today to mourn the killings of five militants and a civilian in clashes in Chowgam village of Qazigund yesterday.
Witnesses said shops and other business establishments remained closed and traffic off the roads in Devsar, Kulgam, DH Pora, Yaripora and Qaimoh towns and adjacent villages.
Reports said Qazigund town and adjoining areas also witnessed complete shutdown.
Mir Bazar, Anantnag town and adjoining areas like Dialgam were also shut against the killings.
Five militants and a civilian – all residents of Kulgam and Anantnag districts – were killed in a gunfight and clashes in Chowgam yesterday. Nearly two dozen protesters were injured in clashes near the site of the gunfight.
