Farooq Shah inspects NRDWP scheme at Dharap

JAMMU, SEPTEMBER 15: Secretary, Public Health Engineering (PHE), Irrigation and Flood Control (I&FC) and Relief and Rehabilitation, Farooq Ahmed Shah inspected the Water Supply Scheme under National Rural Drinking Water Programme (NRDWP) here at Dharap last evening.

He was accompanied by Chief Engineer PHE Jammu, Ashok Gandotra, Senior Engineer Mechanical Urban, Ajay Singh Wazir and XEns PHE, J P Singh and Ajay Sharma.

Farooq Shah directed for de-silting up to the canal bed and retrieval of the garbage from the canal and its proper dumping before releasing the water in the canal. He urged upon the people not to throw garbage in and around the canal which results the blockage of its channels.

Shah stressed upon the concerned officers to personally monitor the progress of ongoing works in the field besides properly maintaining tour diaries. He further instructed that AEEs should sit in their respective sub-division offices while JEs should remain present in their Section Headquarters

Shah asked the officers to take up plantation drives along the canals and proper fencing should be done to save the plants from stray animals.

The Secretary said that the government is focusing on ensuring drinking water security by adopting holistic approach through conjunctive use of surface, ground and rain water harvesting. He informed that various Piped Water Supply Schemes are presently going on in the State under the project. He further informed that the said scheme caters to the drinking water needs of the area having a population of over 8000 souls.
