Srinagar, September 13, 2018: All Parties Hurriyat Conference chairman, Syed Ali Geelani in a statement has paid rich tributes to the militants killed in Handwara and Sopore encounters and expressed hope that the people of the state ‘keeping in view the precious sacrifices given by our youth’ shall lead the ongoing resistance movement to its logical destination.

He reiterated his appeal to the people of Sopore and Zainageer to observe a complete shutdown on Friday 14 September and pay tributes to Hakeem-ur-Rehman Sultani.

Terming Sultani as a great son of soil, the Hurriyat Chairman said that he will always be remembered as a staunch supporter and an eloquent orator who served Tehreek-e-Hurriyat as a humble Tehsil President.

In a separate statement, Geelani accused police of being rude to the incarcerated youth brought from various jails to appear before the court of District Judge Kulgam on the date of their hearing.

Blaming the authorities not permitting the family members including their aged parents and minor children to meet their near and dear ones within the court premises, Hurriyat leader termed it as a worst form of revenge against the detainees.
