DDC Pulwama inaugurates District level cricket tournament

PULWAMA, SEPTEMBER 8: District Development Commissioner, Pulwama Ghulam Mohammad Dar today inaugurated under 19 inter-school district level cricket tournament at sports stadium Pulwama, organized by District Youth services and sports department.

In this tournament, 20 teams from different schools of the district are participating, which will run for Five days. The inaugural match was played between Government Higher Secondary School Litter and Government Higher Secondary School Wasoora.

Speaking on the occasion, District Development Commissioner said that the purpose of organizing such events is to nourish the sports talent and development of team spirit among the youth. He said that no stone will be left in the promotion of sports activities in the district. “I hope that more players from the district will play in state, national and international level in future,” he added.

Dar said that the youth of the District have an immense potential to excel in this field.  DDC also said that cash prize of one lakh will be awarded to the player who will perform best in sports activities on state and national level.

The DDC lauded the efforts of the District Youth Services and Sports Department for holding such events in the district and assured every possible help for the promotion of sports at the grass root level.

Besides, District Youth services and sports officer Pulwama, other concerned officials of the department, Sports lovers and large no. of people were present on the occasion.
