DDC Ramban declares open sports tournament under “Khelo India”

RAMBAN, SEPTEMBER 06: District Development Commissioner, Ramban, Showkat Aijaz Bhat, today launched sports activities across the district by declaring open a marathon sports tournament at GHSS Ramban as part of the “Khelo India” initiative – Sports for Peace and Development.

SSP Ramban Anita Sharma, ASP, Sanjay Parihar, ACD GH Kripak, CEO, A H Fani, DYSSO, Sukhdev Raj Sharma, LDM Ramban besides concerned officers of Health and Information department and other departments were present on the occasion.

Panchyat Parnote team won the Volley Ball match by defeating Maitra A team in an inaugural match.

Speaking on the occasion, the DDC informed that the Khelo India programme has been launched with an objective to involve youth in sports activities to channelize their energy in right direction and imbibe leadership qualities, team spirit and discipline among them.

The DDC further informed that the outstanding performers in sports and cultural events will be felicitated on the concluded day i.e October 31, 2018, while district administration will also facilitate the local players to participate at state and national level competitions. He said the opening tournament will witness separate competitions for Boys and Girls in Football, Volleyball, Kabaddi, Kho-Kho, Athletics and Rural Sport Wrestling besides other games at District Head Quarter and other Zones.

The DDC directed the DYSSO to provide all facilities to participants during the sports events and district officers were directed to go for wide publicity of the event to attract the maximum participation of the youth.
