JAMMU, SEPTEMBER 04: Advisor to Governor, BB Vyas today conducted eight-hour marathon public interaction under the aegis of JK Governor’s Grievance Cell, here whereat he met around 970 people including 65 delegations and listened to their issues and demands.

The delegations which met the advisor were   from Kathua, Rajouri, Reasi, Doda, Samba, and Udhampur. They informed him about their demands related to road connectivity, water supply, power supply, healthcare, sanitation and other issues.

The delegations from border areas sought   up-gradation of power infrastructure, augmentation of drinking water supply and road connectivity. The delegation also demanded compensation for damages caused due to cross border firing.

Responding to the demands, the Advisor directed PDD department to explore the possibility for laying underground electricity supply cables in the border areas to provide uninterrupted power supply to the consumers. He further directed the concerned officers to expedite the process of disbursement of compensation or employment under SRO 43 to the next of the kin of the cross-border firing victims.

A delegation led by former Minister Harsh Dev Singh demanded release of pending liabilities under MGNREGA and developmental issues of Ramnagar.

Another delegation of National Federation for Blinds-RoopNagar sought recognition of school for blinds up to 12th class and a special recruitment drive for Specially-Abled Persons.

A delegation from Reasi demanded Mother-Child healthcare hospital and sought upgradation of roads and power infrastructure and augmentation of water supply in the district.

Several other deputations including representatives of Industrial Units of Bari Brahmana and Samba, West Pakistani Refugees, Migrants, Panchayati Raj Institutions, SOS International, Dogra Sadar Sabha, LaghuUdhyog Bharti, Sukrala Mata Temple, J&K Sharnarthi Action Committee, Doda Migrants, Diploma Engineers Associations besides employees of Excise & Taxation, Home Department, PDD, PHE, JDA, RDD, Health and many others met Advisor and raised their issues and demands for early redressal.

The Advisor gave a patient hearing to the deputations and assured them that their genuine demands will be looked into. He passed on the spot directions for redress of their grievances. Meanwhile, the Advisor directed the officers to maintain close liaison with the people so that their grievances are redressed at the earliest.

Reaffirming and reiterating the directions of J&K Governor, the Advisor said that the next public interaction programme will be held in one of the districts and later on in all other districts.  He said the schedule for the same will be notified separately.

Deputy Commissioner Ramesh Kumar, Director Urban Local Bodies Rajinder Singh Tara, Commissioner JMC Arvind Kotwal, Vice Chairman JDA Pawan Rathore along with Chief Engineers of PDD and PHE Departments and other senior officers of various departments were present at the redressal camp.
