Two militants killed in Bandipora encounter

Bandipora: Two foreign militants were today killed in an encounter with security forces in Hajin area of Bandipora district of Jammu and Kashmir, the police said.

Giving details, a police spokesman said that Police and Security Forces today in the early morning hours jointly launched a search operation based on credible inputs about the presence of militants in Par Mohalla in Hajin area of District Bandipora.

“During the searches, terrorists fired on the search party, which was retaliated leading to an encounter. In the ensuing encounter two terrorists were eliminated. Huge quantity of arms and ammunition including rifles, magazines, pouches etc and incriminating material was recovered from the site of encounter,” said the spokesman.

He said that from the incriminating material seized from the site of encounter, it is learnt that both the killed militants were foreigners from Pakistan and identified as Rizwan alias Jindaal and Ali alias Maaz. Both were affiliated with LeT and were involved in several attacks on security establishments and civilian atrocities in the area.

Meanwhile, authorities had snapped internet services in Hajin and adjoining parts of Bandipora in the wake of the gunfight.

The bodies of the slain militants were shifted to Sheeri Gantamulla graveyard were normally the foreign militants are being buried.

A local said that they had already kept two graves ready as the slain militants were foreigners.

“With today’s two militants, we buried 100 militants so far,” said a grave digger there.
