The deceased were part of the security detail of an officer and had gone to get a police vehicle repaired when the attack took place, an official said.

“Civil & Police Officers led by Director General of Police J&K Dr S.P Vaid laid floral wreaths on the mortal remains and paid rich tributes to the martyr who made supreme sacrifice in the line of duty,” said a police spokesman.

Among others who paid floral tributes include IGP Kashmir S.P Pani, DIG SKR, DC Shopian, ASP Shopian and other officers and jawans.
