BARAMULLA, AUGUST 28: A day–long literary-cum-culture programme was organized by Jammu and Kashmir Punjabi Sahit Sabha at Government Degree College Uri.

The main aim of the programme was to promote the Punjabi, Pahari and Gojri languages besides developing the literary temper among the young enthusiasts

Among other President J&K Punjabi Sahit Sabha Baramulla, Karan Singh Talib Kashmir, Genral Secretary J&K Punjabi Sahit Sabha Baramulla, Sulinder Singh Sodhi, Janak Singh Soghi, Prof. SatwantSingh,Writer Prof. Gurcharn Singh Raina ,  Punjabi writer, Joginder Singh Pandhi, Gurnam Singh Arishi , writer Damodar Singh Hamdard ,JS Panchi and D.S Paars

On the occasion, Tehsildar Uri Choudary Mohammad Aslam praised the programme and sought regular conduct of such programmes. He termed the programme as a grand step in enhancing the popularity of Punjabi, Pahari and Gogri languages.

Various Speakers stressed upon the fact that promotion of those languages is inevitable for the development of the society, as they stand as the mark of identity for the people. Moreover various poets read their works wherein more stress was laid on promoting Punjabi language at curriculum levels.

On the occasion various cultural programmes were presented, depicting the importance of Punjabi literature.
