Srinagar, Aug 25: A special police officer (SPO) today allegedly decamped with an AK-47 rifle from a police station in south Kashmir’s Shopian district, an official said.
SPO Showket Ahmed Shiekh, a resident of Harmain area in the district, decamped with an AK-47 rifle from the possession of Selection Grade Constable Mohammad Yaseen from the Shopian police station, the police official said.
Following the incident, police have sounded an alert across the south Kashmir and launched a hunt to nab the fleeing SPO, he said, adding a case under relevant sections of law has been registered and further investigations taken up.
