Srinagar, Aug 16: A 21-year-old woman died due to drowning in Ferozpore Nallah in Tangmarg area of north Kashmir’s Baramulla district.
The deceased was identified as Tazeema Akhtar, wife of Mohammad Ismail Chopan, a resident of Poonch.
The woman slipped into the gushing waters of Ferozpore Nallah this morning when she went near the stream apparently to drink water in Drung village.
An eye-witness said she slipped into the stream and was washed away. He said the locals present there tried to save her but failed.
The woman’s body was later fished out from the stream.
A police official said the body was handed over to her family for last rites.
