Speaker inspects progress on General Bus Stand modernization project

JAMMU, AUGUST 14: The Speaker Legislative Assembly, Dr Nirmal Singh today visited General Bus Stand and took stock of the modernization work and development of multi-level parking there.

The Speaker was accompanied by senior functionaries of Jammu Development Authority (JDA) besides engineers of the executing agency.

The Speaker was informed that the work on the prestigious project is in full swing and it would be completed in stipulated time.

The Modernization of General Bus Stand / Development of Multi-Tier Parking (six-floor) with capacity of parking 1300 cars, 200 two wheelers and a taxi stand besides providing access corridor to buses will go a long way in easing traffic congestion in Jammu city. It will also have add-on facilities of refreshment, restaurants and washrooms to run it as a self-sustaining model.

The Speaker directed concerned authorities to expedite the work on mega projects and ensure their completion by April 2019 with strict adherence to quality norms.

Nirmal Singh asked the concerned authorities to prepare DPR for 2nd Phase of Bus stand project in tandem with the promotion of tourism in Jammu by improving amenities. He asked them to work on modalities to take   up second phase under Pilgrimage Rejuvenation and Spiritual Augmentation Drive (PRASAD) which aims at bridge the gaps between the required and the existing infrastructure.
