Advisor Vyas for speedy expansion of Srinagar drainage network

SRINAGAR, AUGUST 14:  Advisor to Governor, B B Vyas today directed for fortnightly review of drainage works in Srinagar for speeding up its upgradation and expansion.

The Advisor was chairing a high-level meeting convened to discuss the issues being faced by the people of the city with regard to the drainage network.

The Meeting was attended by Financial Commissioner, Housing and Urban Development Department, K B Agarwal; Managing Director, National Building Construction Corporation (NBCC), Chief Engineer NBCC, Chief Engineer UEED, Chief Engineer PHE Kashmir and other concerned officers.

Directing for plugging the gaps in drainage network of Srinagar city, Vyas asked the officers to ensure optimal utilization of resources. He said the projects undertaken for the augmentation of the drainage network should be completed within the stipulated time frame.

He was informed that civil work on the Noorbagh STP has been completed and electric work is on.

The Advisor asked the officers to identify the important drainage projects across Srinagar city and complete them under different schemes and seek additional requisite funds for completion of projects speedily.

He also stressed on exploring the possibilities of seeking funds for sewerage projects for Srinagar and Jammu cities.

In run up to the representations of delegations during the grievance redressal camp, the Advisor took up these grievances with the officers of concerned agencies and sought action taken report on them in a week.

The grievances related to the drainage projects in Moominabad, Shalteng, Awanta Bhawan, Lal Bazaar, HMT and Rehmat Colony Parimpora.

Seeking timely completion on the approved projects, Vyas said that it is important to setup a timeliness for every work from its inception to completion.
