A decade on, Govt forgets to make toilet complex functional in Budgam

Budgam, Aug 13: The district administration Budgam has miserably failed to make a solo toilet complex functional, constructed a decade back, here in the township.

The negligence of Municipal Committee Budgam (MCB) has literally turned the public toilet facility into a dumping site. Heaps of garbage could be seen littered outside the toilet complex; besides, stray dogs remain present inside it.

Located near busy old bus stand Budgam, the complex has eight toilets, two bathrooms and a separate room; however, authorities have forgotten to make this public convenience functional.

Locals here told ‘Kashmir Images’ that many people visit their houses to use washroom. “We allow people to use washrooms at our homes particularly females as Budgam lacks public toilet facility,” said some locals.

They added that concerned authorities were time and again apprised about the need of public convenience, but nothing concrete was done in this regard.

Ghulam Mohammad, a local said, “We don’t understand if toilet complex is ready, why isn’t MCB making it functional?”

When contacted Executive Engineer, MCB, Syed Nayeem Rizvi said, “There is some issue with the trench and it will be repaired soon.”
