Langate family claims missing son killed in Rafiabad gunfight

Kupwara, Aug 11: Complete shutdown was observed in Langate area of frontier district of Kupwara in north Kashmir today after a local family claimed that one of the five militants killed in Rafiabad gunfight was their son.

Army on Thursday claimed that five militants were killed on Thursday during a gunfight in Rafiabad forests. An Army official had claimed all the slain were foreigners and affiliated with the Lashkar-e-toiba militant outfit.

However, a family residing in Langate area on Friday approached the police in Sopore with the claim that one of the slain was their missing son.

The family said that a missing report was already lodged at Police Station Langate on August 06.

“Bashir Ahmad Mir of Langate has approached the police and claimed that one among the five militants killed in gunfight in Rafiabad forests is their missing son, Muzaffar Ahmad Mir,” said a police official.
