DDC Budgam reviews Eid-ul-Azha arrangements

BUDGAM, AUGUST 11: District Development Commissioner, Budgam, Dr Syed Sehrish Asgar today reviewed arrangements for Eid ul Azha in a meeting of officers from various departments.

The DDC directed the Municipal authorities to ensure proper sanitation and cleanliness at all the places and particularly at those places where congregation prayers would be offered on Eid-ul-Azha. She directed them to give special attention to pre and post cleanliness on Eid-ul- Azha. It was also informed that on the eve of Eid, the Animal Husbandry Department would set up sale outlets for sale of poultry chicken at discounted rates at Tehsil Headquarters of Chadoora, Charar-e-Sharief, Budgam, Beerwah, Khan Sahib and Khag.

Similarly, the Cooperatives Department would set up outlets for sale of poultry birds at concessional rates at B K Pora, Magam, Charar-e-Sharief, Khansahib, Beerwah and Budgam.

The meeting was informed that special sale markets have been established at Budgam, Beerwah, Chadoora, Charrisharrief, Khansahib, and all other prominent towns, where sacrificial animals will be put on sale. Special teams under the supervision of qualified Veterinary Surgeons will remain stationed at prescribed markets, in order to check the health status of animals. They will ensure that kept live stock is fit for sacrifice and if there is any occurrence of disease or disorder, will report immediately to the concerned quarters.

FCS&CA, Revenue, Metrology and Food Safety departments were directed to intensify market checking. The Deputy Commissioner asked for strict action against profiteers and black-marketers. So that people are not fleeced by hoarders and profiteers, the Deputy Commissioner ordered that special market checking squads be constituted to keep vigil on market rates and ensure that no sub standard, adulterated or spurious items are sold. The rate list should be displayed on every business establishment.

She also urged the Fire and Emergency services to be prepared to deal with any eventuality.

The meeting was attended by SSP Budgam Tejinder Singh, ADC Khurshid Ahmad Shah, SE Hydraulics, EXEN R&B, PHE, Electricity, SDM Khansahib, Beerwah, Chadoora, all Tehsildars, officers of Animal and Sheep Husbandry departments and all Executive officers of Municipal Communities.
