Army conducts recruitment drive in retail, banking sectors through JKEDI

Udhampur, Aug 06: PRO (Defence) Udhampur on Monday said that Indian Army in collaboration with JKEDI concluded its series of Employment Awareness Lectures cum Screenings at Talwara, Samote, Bagga, Gool and Dharmari which were held under ‘Himayat Scheme’.

In a statement issued here, PRO (Defence) Udhampur said, “The aim of this initiative, which had commenced on 25 July, was to empower youth by providing training for skill enhancement and enable them to earn their livelihood.”

“Army organized lectures and screening of youth for seven months long training programme being conducted by Apollo Medical Skill, Delhi and Manpower Skill Academy, Solan (HP) and Chandigarh. These awareness lectures were attended by over 900 youth hailing from Reasi, Rajouri & Ramban districts. During this training, the youth were adequately equipped to undertake jobs in Retail, Marketing, Banking and health care sectors,” the statement quoted PRO as saying.

“After the screening, 415 youth were found fit for the seven months training at Delhi, Solan and Chandigarh. The selected youth will be provided free training, accommodation, messing, books and uniform. After the training they will be given appropriate employment based on their skill and performance,” reads the statement.

The statement further said that this noble gesture from the Army in conjunction with JKEDI has been lauded by the Awam and received an overwhelming response. “The youth expressed their gratitude for the conduct of the event.”
