Visitors irked as shrub weeds, muck engulf Tehsil Headquarter Uri

Uri (Baramulla), Aug 04: The visitors at Tehsil Headquarter in North Kashmir’s frontier town Uri are facing inconvenience due to the presence of shrub weeds and muck in the Tehsil premises here.

Interestingly,  a number of vital government offices are located in the premises of Uri Headquarter which include Tehsil Office, Zonal Education Office, Youth Service and Sports, PHE & Irrigation, Rural Development Department, Agriculture Department, Food & Supply Office; besides, a officers’ club.

Locals and visitors here complained that they are facing a hard time while making their way to the government offices located at Teshil Headquarter Uri. “The place doesn’t seem to be an official place as it has turned into a jungle with full of weeds and dirt all around,” said Manzoor Ahmad, a local of Uri town.

“Huge muck is spread all over the place which has led to the formation of potholes that are posing a constant threat to the lives of the visitors,” said Ahmad adding that the place has also become slippery which is again quite dangerous.

When contacted Sub Divisional Magistrate (SDM) Uri, Baseer-ul-Haq Choudhary, he said, “I have received a complaint with regard to the deplorable condition at Uri Headquarter.”

“I have deputed the Tehsildar and Naib-Tehsildar directing them to take stock of the situation at the Headquarter and come up with a report,” he added.
