SRINAGAR, AUGUST 01: A delegation of legislators today called on Speaker Legislative Assembly (LA) Dr Nirmal Singh here.

The delegation included Members of Legislative Assembly:  Kavinder Gupta, Satpaul Sharma, Sham Lal Choudhary, Rajiv Jasrotia and Shakti Raj Parihar.

On the occasion, the Speaker assured the MLAs that he shall personally take up the projected matters with the concerned quarters to address their concerns.

Meanwhile, Dr Singh convened a meeting to review the working of the Assembly Secretariat and also to assess the requirements for modernization of the Assembly functioning.

The Speaker was informed by Secretary, Assembly R L Sharma about the working of the different wings of the Legislative Assembly and steps taken to digitize the Assembly record, and implementation of e-Vidhaan project.

The Speaker enjoined upon the staff to work with added dedication so that optimum utilization of human resources could be made. He asked Secretary Assembly to ensure that the staff is provided with capacity building training.

He also directed for formulating a comprehensive plan for the face-lifting and upgradation of MLA hostels in Srinagar and Jammu.

The Speaker also reviewed the status of the process of ensuring the allotment of MLA Hostels to the sitting MLAs and the vacation of the hostels by Ex-MLAs or by any other unauthorized persons.

He assured the Assembly secretariat staff that addressing their genuine demands shall always remain a priority and called upon them to work with added zeal.

Secretary Legislative Assembly, Rattan Lal Sharma, Additional Secretary Assembly, Naseem Jan, Deputy Secretary, Assembly, Abdul Qayoom Mir, In-charge IT Section, Vishal Sharma and other concerned officers also attended the meeting.
