Kulgam, July 28: The students of Government Polytechnic College in district Kulgam have expressed their dismay over the lack of on campus sports facilities here.

They said that in absence of sports facilities and playground, they are unable to participate in sports activities and are being compelled to organize sports activities outside the campus. “We don’t have a physical education teacher available in our college, leave alone the other facilities,” they added

One of the students of the college Shahid Manzoor said, “Since the time I joined this institution, I have never witnessed any sports activities here.”

The students further said that no tournament has been organized in the college, besides; they have never participated in any inter-college sports competition.

When contacted Principal Government Polytechnic College Kulgam, Aashiq Nabi Bhat, he said, “There is lack of space in the campus and with regard to the vacant post of Physical Teacher (PT), the college needs a playground and sports equipments only then we can think of appointing a PT here.

“After the end of vacations, we are planning to organize youth engagement sports activities for the students,” he added.
