Grenade attack in Pulwama, no casualties
IED detected in Nowgam area of Srinagar
Srinagar: Militants today hurled a grenade towards a post office in Pulwama district of Jammu and Kashmir but no casualties or damage were reported, police said.
The militants lobbed the grenade towards the post office at Washbug in the district, which exploded in its compound, a police official said.
However, no one was hurt in the explosion, he added.
Meanwhile, the security forces today averted a major tragedy after they detected and defused an improvised explosive device (IED) planted by militants in Nowgam area of the city, police said.
The security forces detected an IED planted near Nala Kadal in Nowgam area on the busy Parimpora-Panthachowk bypass road this morning, a police official said.
A bomb disposal squad was rushed to the spot which destroyed the explosive, he said.
