They said that the injured were later shifted to the hospital where one among them succumbed to his injuries.

“Constable Shankar Lal has been martyred, while two others have been injured in the attack,” an official spokesman said.

The attack was carried out in Pampori and Sons lane that is situated opposite Fire Services Headquarter and is facing Police Control Room and is only a few meters away from the office of IGP, Kashmir, making it the highly sensitive area.

“CRPF jawan attained martyrdom in the terror incident at Batamaloo today. Area is under cordon. Further details will follow,” Kashmir Zone Police tweeted.

Meanwhile, Hizb operational spokesman, Burhan-ud-din in a tele-statement to KNS claimed the responsibility of the attack, saying that two troopers were killed while many were injured in the attack.

Meanwhile, Jammu and Kashmir Police Tuesday beefed up security here in Srinagar city following the attack on CRPF party in which one Paramilitary Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) man was killed.

Police sources told KNS that that security has been tightened across the city in view of the attack carried out by the militants in the heart of the city.

Witnesses said that Police and CRPF men were seen carrying out frisking of vehicles, particularly LMVs. They were also checking the documents of motor bikes.

The vehicles entering into Srinagar through different entry points were also being thoroughly checked.

Additional deployment of forces and police was made at several places. “We have laid the Nakas across the city. We are monitoring the situation,” a senior police officer said. However, no one was reported to be arrested during the searches.

Meanwhile, Police today released a CCTV grab of two bike-borne suspects who they believe carried out the attack at Batamaloo in which a CRPF jawan was killed and two others injured.

“Identify the suspects involved in today’s terror attack at Batamaloo,” the Kashmir Zone Police said as it released the photograph on Twitter.

Police has asked public to inform on 9596770526, adding the identity of the one providing information will remain confidential.
