Jammu, Jul 19:  A delegation of industrialists in Jammu and Kashmir today met the Centre’s special representative in Samba district and sought his intervention to ensure growth of industry in the state.

Special representative Dineshwar Sharma arrived here on a two-day visit and met dozens of delegations in the twin districts of Kathua and Samba along Jammu-Pathankot highway.

“We requested Sharma to kindly take up the matter with Central and state governments to resolve our issue on priority basis for the rapid industrial growth in our state to avoid any flight of capital from our state and also save the micro and small scale sector from closure,” General Secretary Bari Brahmana Industries Association (BBIA) Ajay Langer said.

He said a five-member delegation of the BBIA led by its president Lalit Mahajan met the centre’s interlocutor and raised serious concern over the negative Industrial growth in the state due to the failure of the centre to extend the fiscal incentives to the sector at par with north eastern states like extension of income tax reimbursement, CGST and freight subsidy incentives.

Immediately after his arrival in Jammu, Sharma straightway drove to Kathua district and camped there, meeting dozens of delegations before moving to Samba district today.

The delegations which met Sharma over the past two days included politicians from almost all political parties, social organisations and Non-governmental organisations, officials said.

They said the delegations briefed Sharma about various issues related to development, tourism and unemployment and one of the delegations also highlighted the demand for a CBI probe into the Kathua rape and murder case.
