Srinagar, July 19: Seasonal laborers of Irrigation and Flood Control (I&FC) circle Awantipora Thursday held protest here demanding continuation of their services as casuals and release of salary well on time.

Chanting slogans “we want justice and don’t be cruel with poor laborers”, dozens of seasonal laborers working in I&FC department over the years gathered at Lal Chowk here and staged demonstrations to protest ‘undue delay in continuation of their services.’

They appealed the Governor administration to consider and accordingly resolve their genuine issues.

“We are poor laborers with limited resources. The demands we want to bring into the consideration of Governor N.N Vohra are to continue our services as casual laborers in the department besides the salary be released without break,” said Bilal Ahmad a protesting laborer.

He alleged that the department concerned has never released their salary on time nor do they receive same in full.

The protesters appealed the Governor and his Advisors to consider their demands and ensure they don’t face problems in future that make them to go against the system.
