GANDERBAL, JULY 19: Additional Deputy Commissioner Ganderbal, Naseer Ahmad Wani today reviewed the traffic scenario in Ganderbal district and directed officials to use modern and time-tested methods to regulate both intra-district and inter-district transport.

The meeting was attended by SDM Kangan, ARTO Ganderbal, Dy. SP Traffic Ganderbal, President Harmukh Transport Corporation Limited and President Sumo stand Ganderbal/Beehama/Duderhama/ Lar/Kangan.

A discussion was held on the frequent jamming of traffic and slow movement of buses plying in the district.

Taking strong notice of complaints from passengers especially students about the slow and lesser movement of buses, the ADC directed officials that passenger buses should be allowed to stop only at designated stops and any bus stopping at any place other than the designated stops will be subject to action as per rules.

He said that with this measure there will be a fast movement of passenger buses and people will reach their destinations in time.

He also directed the officials to increase the number of passenger buses in the district especially in the peak hours so as to mitigate the issue of transport unavailability.

Taking a strong note of overloading of passenger buses, the ADC directed the ARTO to take strict action against the traffic rule violators as per law.
