Star Warriors defeat Shaheen’s by 7 runs in finals

Pattan: Tanveer scored a half-century before Warrior’s bowlers come out with a stupendous performance to defeat Shaheen’s by 7 runs and win the maiden Wanigam Twenty20 Premiere League -2018 tournament.

In the final at the Wanigam stadium, the Warrior’s successfully defended the total of 164 runs against Shaheen’s on Sunday here.

A fearsome pace bowling from Khaleef of Bhat Warriors at the end consigned Shaheen’s to a horror 7 run defeat as Bhat Warriors won their maiden Wanigam Premiere League-2018 title.

After winning the toss Bhat Warriors opted to bat first and with help of Tanveers’s half-Century (58) and Gulzar’s 35 runs, they scored a total of 164 runs for the loss of 8 wickets in allotted 20-overs.

Umar remained the leading wicket taker for Shaheen’s with 4 wickets, while Shoib took 2 wickets.

In reply, Shaheen’s whikle chasing allotted target of 165 runs played superbly till 15th over of their innings. Shaheen’s were 149 runs in 17-overs for the loss of 5 wickets.

Khaleef bowled a dream over when Shaheen’s were 14 runs away from Victory with 2-overs left.

Khaleef bowled the 19th over and wiped out the victory dream of Shaheen’s with clever use of seam and length in a short boundary ground and gave just 4 runs and Scalped 2 important wickets for his team and Shaheen’s fell short of 7 runs to lift the title of Wanigam Twenty Premiere League 2018.

Khaleef was adjudged Player of the final for his match winning bowling performance.

Mohammad Altaf with 306 runs and Umar with 21 wickets throughout the tournament were jointly declared as players of the tournament.

Zeeshan Pervaiz and Khalid Altaf Hussain Magray attended the ceremony as guest of honor and distributed prizes among the players. The tournament was organised by Wanigam Cricket Association.
