Srinagar, Jul 09: Traffic came to a grinding halt on the airport road after the family and relatives of four boys allegedly detained during a nocturnal raid staged a protest in Hyderpora area of Srinagar on Monday.

Witnesses said that scores of women staged a ‘dharna’ (sit-in) on the road near Jamia Masjid to demand the release of four boys detained following a grenade blast in the area on Saturday. A CRPF trooper and a civilian were injured in the blast.

The protesters said that the boys were playing near a ground in Hyderpora when the blast took place. “These boys were picked up by the forces during a night raid on Saturday. They are so young. They have nothing to do with the blast,” protesting women said.
