Director NHM flags-off ASHA workers to Haryana

JAMMU, JULY 8: Mission Director, NHM Dr. Yashpal Sharma today flagged-off an inter-state exposure visit of ASHAs and ASHA Supervisory cadre to Panchkula, Haryana.

A team of about 90 participants including ASHAs (Accredited Social Health Activists), ASHA Facilitators, Block ASHA Coordinators, District ASHA Coordinators and  District Programme Management Units of J&K shall visit the State of Haryana, who are pioneer in ASHA Programme, to observe  various activities in the community processes like Village Health & Nutrition Days, functioning of Village Health Sanitation & Nutrition Committees, Home Based New born Care, Gram Sabha, functioning of Panchayati Raj Institutions and various other best practices. Further best innovations in the health care at grass root & community level will also be observed so that the same are replicated in the state of J&K for providing the best healthcare. ASHAs shall also visit the villages where ASHAs have been given the status of SHO to monitor PC&PNDT to save the girl child in the State.

This Exposure Visit for ASHAs and ASHA supervisory cadre is second of its kind as during the previous year, the ASHAs and ASHA cadres were sent to the State of Chhattisgarh to observe the best practices being practiced in the State of Chhattisgarh.

Chief Medical Officer, Jammu Dr. Sanjay Turkey, State Nodal Officer, Quality Assurance, NHM, J&K Dr. Narinder Bhatial, and Officers from State Health Society, NHM, J&K were present on the ocassion.

The Exposure visit is being organized by the National Health Mission, J&K in collaboration with National Health Mission, Haryana.
