Tourism Deptt to launch state wide cultural programmes

SRINAGAR, JULY 05: In order to promote cultural tourism, the Department of Tourism will for the first-time issue destination specific Cultural Calendars that will highlight dates of the cultural events to be organized at different tourist destinations across the State.

The state wide cultural events will promote State’s unique, music, culture, art and craft.

The cultural calendars will be prepared for all the tourism development authorities of the State, which will help attract tourists to lesser-known tourist places too.

In this regard, Secretary Tourism R Sampheal has instructed all Assistant Directors to prepare the calendars with the help of the Chief Executive Officers (CEOs) of the respective tourism development authorities by 15th of this month.

Secretary Tourism said the move is aimed to promote cultural events well in advance so that the travelers would sync their itineraries with these events.

“We are launching cultural programmes across all the 24 development authorities for which we want good number to tourists to turn up and experience our unique culture, art and craft and music. We will be preparing the calendar of such cultural events and promote them in advance so that travelers prepare their itineraries accordingly,” he said.
