Beerwah: National Conference Vice President Omar Abdullah on Thursday visited Beerwah and interacted with party functionaries and workers of his constituency. Seeking the redressal of various public grievances, the National Conference Vice President and MLA Beerwah said basic governance as invisible during the tenure of the PDP-BJP Government and that people were made to run from pillar to post for their basic rights.

Addressing the party functionaries and workers, Omar Abdullah said the basic power distribution, water-supply infrastructure was neglected by the previous Government.

“Whatever developmental work has been achieved in Beerwah including augmentation of the power distribution, health, education, water-supply and irrigation infrastructure was done through constituency development funds and augmentations that were equitably and diligently allocated and spent in the constituency. The previous Government chose to turn a blind eye towards public grievances,” Omar said.

The NC Vice President said there was a severe deficiency of medical professionals, doctors and teachers at public health institutes and government schools in Beerwah.

“A lot of doctors, paramedics, nurses and teachers officially posted in Beerwah are working elsewhere. I raised this issue with the Honourable Governor and sought adequate staffing of our health units and schools in Beerwah.  I have always been at the disposal of the constituents of Beerwah and will continue to be at your service in the future”, the NC Vice President added.

Omar said while Governor’s Rule was not an ideal situation, the present circumstances of turmoil and chaos in the State was not conducive to hold elections.

“We have sought the dissolution of the State Assembly so that no manipulative games are played with the aspirations and mandate of the people but the present situation is not conducive for the conduct of polls.  Our primary concern right now is the restoration of the situation in the State to normalcy and peace – as was inherited by the PDP-BJP Government in 2014”, the NC Vice President added.

Omar Abdullah was accompanied by his Political Advisor Tanvir Sadiq and Senior Party Leader Professor Abdul Majeed Matoo besides party functionaries and activists.
